  1. 28 June 1991

    Introduction

    Dante Powell has 10 years of expeience in total energy scenario development and economic modelling.

    This works has formed the basis of the infrastructure planning work done in ENTSO-E and ENTSOG (the pan-european infrastrucutre planning authorities, representing 73 electricity and gas TSOs). This work is is a prerequisite for the European Commission's priority infrastrucutre investment decisions.

    My Achievements

    Received a First Class Honours Degree.

    Developed a drivetrain for a hydrogen fuel urban vehicle and raced it in the Shell Eco-Marathon in the Netherlands.

  3. Sep 2012 - 1 year 3 months

    Rolls Royce - Operations Engineer

    Led in-depth analysis on Aero Engine control system designs,identifying and mitigating issues. The outcomes were used toanalyse designs on new projects.

    Fed into the Robust Design Implementation Project, analysing the design procedure and implementing robust design concepts to reduce engineering changes and returns.

    Developed the Continuous Improvement Participation and Concession tool using Visual Basic coding, saving time and increasing efficiency.

    My Achievements

    Techno-economic analysis of oxy-combustion coal-fired power plant with cryogenic oxygen storage Science Direct. The results outline the Techno-economic viability of liquid oxygen energy storage in an Oxy-Firing Carbon Capture and Storage plant.

    National Grid - Power System Engineer

    Performed technical studies on the effects of the UK’s changing energy landscape on the operation of the transmission system (e.g. Inertia, RoCoF, Embedded generation) whilst translating technical analysis into digestible language for investors and new entrees to market. Fed into the management of a project looking at system requirements up to 5 years in the future.

    Scenario Innovation Lead: Developed methodologies and models for disruptive technologies such as P2g and V2g

    Managed scenario related interactions between European Commission, ACER & ENTSOs

    Economic Analysis of TYNDP Projects

    Developed Python scripts to perform net present value analysis of TYNDP project portfolio over a 25 and 40 year period. The analysis is a key input used by the European Commission to provide funding for electricity infrastructure projects in Europe

    Frequency Stability Studies

    Investigation of reduction of inertia in Europe frequency stability, using pyhton scripts to assess modelling data
